Ford government reports another drop in coronavirus cases

Another drop in coronavirus cases has been recorded in Ontario, with provincial health officials reporting 119 new cases on Monday.

Another drop in coronavirus cases has been recorded in Ontario, with provincial health officials reporting 119 new cases on Monday. The reports have now shown under 150 cases for three days in a row, according to CTV News.

On Friday, the province saw a spike in cases with 195 reported. On Saturday, 138 cases were reported and there were 137 new cases reported on Sunday.

Ontario has had a daily case count ranging from 103 to 203 in the past 10 days and has now had a total count of 38,799.

Ontario’s death toll has risen to 2,764 with one new death confirmed on Monday.

The province’s hospitals are currently occupied by 82 patients and 30 of them are receiving treatment in an intensive care unit. Of those 30, 18 are currently using a ventilator to breathe.

On Monday, 64 percent of the new patients reported were below 40-years-old.

Data from the epidemiological summary on Monday shows 40 new cases in Windsor-Essex, 28 in Ottawa, 20 in Toronto and Peel region saw four.

Due to their daily counts, Toronto, Windsor-Essex and Peel Region have not advanced to Stage 3 with the rest of Ontario which has entered Stage 3 as of July 24.

According to officials, roughly 30 hospitals in Ontario didn’t provide data on Saturday.

"We anticipate that there may be an increase in the number of hospitalized patients when we have more complete reporting," officials said.

Over two-million coronavirus tests have been carried out by provincial health officials since the pandemic began.

Ontario also conducted over 24,000 tests in the previous 24 hours and 9,249 tests are currently being investigated.

There have now been 34,461 recoveries made by patients in the province.
