Prokop, age 35, was arrested on Christmas Eve and remains in custody at a Victoria County jail on charges of possession of child pornography and resisting arrest.
Actor Matt Prokop, known for his teenage role in Disney’s High School Musical 3: Senior Year, has been arrested and is facing multiple charges, including possession of child pornography.
Prokop, age 35, was arrested on Christmas Eve and remains in custody at a Victoria County jail on charges of possession of child pornography and resisting arrest, according to a report by TMZ. The arrest stemmed from an alleged violation of bond conditions tied to a May 2024 arrest in which Prokop was charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
Those bond conditions were imposed following an arrest in Victoria, Texas, where Prokop is from. In that case, he was accused of assaulting his girlfriend.
The former child actor previously dated Modern Family actress Sarah Hyland, who accused him of abuse during their five-year relationship. In 2014, Hyland alleged that Prokop slammed her into a vehicle and choked her during an argument.
After their breakup, he allegedly threatened to burn her house down and kill her dog. Hyland later obtained a restraining order against Prokop that remained in effect for three years.
Prokop currently faces four misdemeanor charges: one count of violation of bond or protective order, one count of evading arrest or detention, and two counts of resisting arrest, search, or transportation. He also faces a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in a dating or family violence case, and has been charged with second-degree felony possession of child pornography. It is unclear when he will appear in court.
