Truckers part of the pro-freedom convoy travelling to Ottawa from Saint-Jérôme, Quebec, made a potentially dangerous discovery on the highway. According to a circulating video posted to social media, the Freedom Convoy discovered piles of nails, seemingly placed intentionally to stop or harm the convoy.
"They are putting nails on the ground, so we can't get through," says the trucker filming the discovery.
The video appears to originate from an Instagram account called Montreal Stories. The Post Millennial is currently following up with the group to get more information on these truckers and whether they made it to Ottawa safely.
According to AutoBlog, it is extremely dangerous to put nails down on the road. Running over nails could cause the vehicle's tire to suffer a blowout, causing it to explode and causing the driver to lose control of the car. On the highway, that could lead to a dangerous crash.
Beyond the physical danger of driving over nails, the damage alone could be costly to drivers. This would be a significant burden on these truckers, who are currently losing their jobs.
Canadian truckers made their way to Ottawa on Saturday for a planned protest in which they have stated their intention to "gridlock" the city until the Trudeau government lifts vaccine mandate requirements for the trucking industry.

Trucks stretched for several blocks as protesters continued to gather at Parliament Hill. Protesters brought signs, music, and an incredible cacophony of honking horns as they stood bundled in the snow against the cold.
