French President Emmanuel Macron's wife is planning on suing after a disinformation campaign started in France that claimed she was secretly transgender, according to the New York Post.

This all started when a right-wing French tabloid published an article titled the "mystery of Brigette Macron."

The secret, of course, was that Brigette was really a man, who had been born Jean-Michel Trogneux.

Needless to say, these rumours have remained unfounded. Nevertheless, this article quickly took Twitter and Facebook by storm, with a hashtag being created: #JeanMichelTrogneux.

Her lawyer has since told the press that she intends to sue. "She has decided to start procedures, it’s in process," said the lawyer.

Brigette first met Macron when she was 40 and the future president was 15. France, being slightly more laid back than the rest of us, doesn't seem to find this age gap a problem.

Nor do they care that Brigette was Macron's teacher at the time - the parents being so concerned that they moved Macron to another school in Paris. Love, alas, has prevailed in this case.

In 2017, Macron had to deny allegations that he was secretly a gay man, carrying out a covert love affair.
