A dangerous fugitive is on the run in the Schumacher neighbourhood of Timmins, Ontario, according to CTV News.

Timmins Police are asking residents in the area to stay at home while they attempt to track down a fugitive that they deem to be 'dangerous'. Police said that the man is wanted for several serious offences.

In an news release, Timmins Police Service's corporate communication coordinator Marc Depatie said, "Given the nature of his recent actions, anyone seeing this person is advised not to approach for public safety reasons,"

Depatie also added that a photo of the fugitive will be released soon.

The fugitive was involved in an altercation in a hotel parking lot on Tuesday morning with another Timmins police officer before fleeing the scene.

The vehicle the fugitive used to escape was discovered abandoned in the Schumacher neighbourhood. Police have reason to believe that he could be armed.

The 19-year-old suspect is described as a black male, 6' tall, 220 pounds with a medium build and black hair and brown eyes.

Police are asking residents in the immediate area to remain indoors. They are warning people in that area not to congregate in the immediate area as it may lead to contaminating the scene.

The area where the abandoned vehicle was found is being held by police and is restricted to the public.

Police suspect that the fugitive is on foot and as that anyone who may have spotted him to call 911 immediately to help provide information on his whereabouts.
