Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon revealed that there were "several" threats against her on Sunday night. All of these threats, she said, have been referred to US Marshals for investigation. These include those from staffers for California Governor Gavin Newsom.

"Threats against me are referred to the US Marshals. There have been several tonight. We will tolerate no such threats by woke idiots, including those who work for Gavin Newsom. Govern yourselves accordingly. FAFO," she said.

While Dhillon did not elaborate on what those threats are, or who from Newsom's staff had been part of the mob, Newsom's Director of Communications Izzy Gardon appeared to blame Dhillon for a blaze that engulfed the beachfront home of a judge in South Carolina.

"A few weeks ago," Gardon said, "one of Trump’s top DOJ officials publicly targeted this judge. Today, the judge’s home is on fire."

Circuit Judge Diane Goodstein's home exploded on Sunday. Her husband and son were both injured in the blast trying to escape the flames. Goodstein had been walking her dogs on the beach at the time. The fire is currently under investigation and Goodstein had reportedly also been the subject of politically motivated threats.

Dhillon had objected to Goldstein's ruling on voter data, saying that the Civil Rights division at the DOJ "will not stand for a state court judge's hasty nullification of our federal voting laws. I will allow nothing to stand in the way of our mandate to maintain clean voter rolls. One Citizen, One Vote!"

For Gardon, apparently, this is some kind of threat of arson. Connecticut Democrat Senator Chris Murphy jumped aboard the blame train, sharing Gardon's post. But the case in South Carolina had already moved on.

Goodstein granted a temporary restraining order on Sept. 2 to prevent the South Carolina Election Commission from sharing voter data with the federal government. But on Oct. 1, after an appeal, Judge Daniel Coble denied the injunction and reversed the temporary restraining order. The matter was solved in the courts.

The threats against Dhillon and others come amid a seeming ramp-up of political violence in the United States. Violence has been carried out and threatened against law enforcement agents, with DHS Secretary Kristi Noem revealing on Sunday that there are bounties on the heads of her agents.

Conservative leader Charlie Kirk was murdered as he conducted debates on a college campus on Sept. 10. A man in Dallas opened fire on ICE agents, instead killing two illegal immigrant detainees.

Dhillon has criticized Newsom's handling of California, from his unwillingness to allow federal agents to secure the border or carry out enforcement of immigration law to his state's violations of Title IX of the Civil Rights Act, among other issues.
