It has been revealed that federal agencies helped to transport pallets of documents down to Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago golf club a year before the raid on the property by the FBI in the classified documents case brought by Special Counsel Jack Smith.
A new report from the Federalist reveals that the General Services Administration (GSA) was in talks with Trump's team for the transition of "pallets" of materials from his time in office to the golf course estate.
Emails obtained by the outlet revealed that during Trump's transition out of office, the GSA, with some assistance from the National Archives, gathered and transported documents and other items on pallets down to the location in West Palm Beach.
6 pallets needed to go from Virginia down to Florida, the emails showed. 2 of them were destined for Mar-a-Lago which were labeled as "document boxes" in the emails.
The two document boxes set for Mar-a-Lago weighed 994 and 443 pounds.
“I understand that we are ready to ship,” an email from Kathy Geisler on Aug. 26, 2021, read. Another email said, “I know that originally we had 3 pallets going to the storage unit — that is now 4 pallets going to the storage unit. 2 Pallets will go to Mar-a-Lago.”
Geisler was the director of the Office of Portfolio Management and Real Estate’s Program Execution Division at the time, and recipients of the email from her included Trump aide Beau Harrison.
A letter in July 2021 from Harrison stated that the items from Virginia going to West Palm Beach needed to be sent "to wind down the Office of the Former President or are items that are property of the Federal Government.”
NARA was involved in the transition out of office, however, by June 2021, NARA archivist David Ferriero was frustrated with the "good-faith efforts" from Trump's team to cooperate with NARA, according to a filing obtained by Julie Kelly.
When the Federalist reached out to NARA to know if the pallets shipped to GSA had any documents that were confiscated during a later raid by the FBI, the agency's staff said they had "no awareness about the contents of the materials on the pallets and had no involvement in the move project that is referenced in the GSA emails.”
In another post, Kelly said, "NARA was harassing Trump throughout 2021 for what they insisted were government records apparently WITHOUT contacting GSA to search dozens of boxes in their possession."
The records of the transition may raise questions regarding whether or not GSA ever transported classified materials to Trump's Mar-a-Lago mansion unbeknownst to Trump.
