During Hunter Biden's trial, his infamous "laptop from hell" was entered into evidence, laying to rest any doubt that it was, in fact, real. In the days since, a number of Republicans have called out the 51 intelligence officials who had originally deemed it to be "Russian disinformation," casting doubt on its authenticity in the lead-up to the 2020 election.

The lawmakers said the people in question, who have refused to apologize for their actions, should be investigated and potentially criminally prosecuted, or punished by having their employment terminated or security clearances revoked if they still work in government.

"I think there needs to be an investigation into every single one of them," Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) told the Daily Mail during congressional baseball practice. "We know that the intel community never operates in absolutes and the fact that we had 51 come forward and try to put forward a narrative that this was disinformation, misinformation when everyone knew full well that it wasn't, that it was very real." She said it "speaks volumes about the politicization and the weaponization of the DOJ and the IC."

Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) echoed his colleague's sentiments, adding that he believes the American people are "frustrated and tired" of "see[ing] all of these people doing all these horrible things, using the deep state to go after Trump and Russia-gate and Russia collusion."

"It was all a lie, and none of these people have been held accountable," he lamented. "So if any of them are still working in government, they should all lose their jobs and then be sued if there's some type of cause that you can go after them for."

"Every single one of the 51 former intelligence officials who signed the letter saying that the laptop was Russian disinformation should be held accountable," Sen. Ted Cruz wrote in a post on X.

Fellow senator Ron Johnson also called on them to be "held accountable," pointing out that the FBI only admitted it was real after being "forced" to do so.
