While being interviewed on Sunday, Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) told the media that he will hire any Border Patrol agent at risk of disciplinary action from the Biden administration after the recent happenings at the border.
President Joe Biden had previously stated that he "took responsibility" for the situation at the border, but in the same breath threatened Border Patrol agents.
Biden stressed that there is an investigation underway regarding the actions of the agents, and noted that there would be "consequences" for those agents depicted:
"To see people treated like they did, horses barely running them over and people being strapped, it's outrageous. I promise you that those people will pay."
The Biden administration had even banned horses from use by the Border Patrol after seeing a photo of an agent reining in his horse and misinterpreting it as the agent whipping a migrant. The journalist who took the photo even went public to clear up the misunderstanding, apparently to no avail.
"...if [Biden] takes any action against them whatsoever, I have worked side by side with those Border Patrol agents. I want them to know something, if they are at risk of losing their job, got a president who is abandoning his duty to secure the border, you have a job in the state of Texas. I will hire you to help Texas secure our border," Abbott vowed to the Border Patrol agents.
Abbott, while appearing on "Fox News Sunday" further iterated that he considered the Biden administration to be in "dereliction" of their duties, since they've "abandoned any pretense of securing the sovereignty of either Texas or the United States by having these open border policies..."
The Texas governor also pointed out during the interview that it was when the Texas Department of Public Safety and the National Guard appeared at the border that the massive flow of illegal migrants finally stopped. Abbott continued:
"...[I]t's the kind of thing that Texas is going to have to continue to do in addition to the other policies that you did not announce and that is, as opposed to catch and release, Texas has imposed a policy where we are going to arrest and jail people who come in across the border for trespassing into areas into the state of Texas."
