Hillary Clinton has canceled her appearance at a fundraiser event for Kamala Harris at the Hamptons, reportedly because she came down with COVID-19 after the Democratic National Convention.

According to Page Six of the New York Post, Clinton bowed out of the night at the Hamptons fundraiser for the Harris-Walz camp last Monday. The Post reported that sources said that she came down with COVID-19 ahead of the event and was not in attendance.

Sources cited by the outlet said that Bill Clinton and as well as Doug Emhoff have stepped into the role to fill in for Hillary. The event was held at the residence of Richard and Lisa Perry, two wealthy art collectors in the Hamptons. They are known to own paintings from blue-chip artists such as Frank Stella, Alexander Calder, Ellsworth Kelly and Donald Judd.

Tickets for the highest tier at the event costed $100,000 each and an invitation received by the outlet said, “This is likely to be one of the last small events in the NY area before the election, so it is not to be missed.”

The invitation reportedly stated that Sharon and Jon Corzine, Crystal McCrary McGuire and Ray McGuire, Brooke Garber Neidich and Dan Neidich, Laurie Tisch and other notable people were some of the event's chairs. One source familiar with the Clintons involvement in the fundraiser commented, “They don’t have to show at these things," and added that a switch can be done on short notice if necessary.

Another source told the outlet that the event at the Hamptons as well as another hosted at the home of Clinton-backer Michael Kempner, raised around $2 million in a few days.
