Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar mocked a video of Christians celebrating Easter and singing worship songs on a plane.
Omar tweeted the video, with an accompanying caption that read: "I think my family and I should have a prayer session next time I am on a plane. How do you think it will end?" The video shows several singing on an airplane, some with instruments, performing worship songs.
Omar is a practicing Muslim.
Republican politicians and commentators responded to Omar, criticizing her for her anti-Christian sentiment, her contradictions, and her statement's oversights.
Vernon Jones, a former Democrat, wrote "Why do you hate Christians, Ilhan?
"If the freedom of religion we enjoy here in America disturbs you, feel free to pack your bags and head back to Somalia, Sudan, or wherever you’re from.
"Take your brother with you," his tweet concluded.
Jose Castillo, a congressional candidate in Floida, tweeted "In America, Muslims can & do pray in public. If she wants a country where Christians aren’t allowed to do the same @IlhanMN should go back to her own country."
Omar was born in Somalia, though she is a naturalized US citizen.
"Qatar - a country you’re very familiar with - plays Islamic prayers on the intercom before takeoff on their planes," tweeted Cicely Davis, an opponent of Omar in Minnesota's 5th Congressional District.
"They have a designated prayer area & coordinates for Mecca are posted on the screens. It’s no problem. The issue is you hate Christians & Jews & lots of Muslims."
"Don’t disrespect Christianity! You’re a globalist fraud. You can’t pray in Pelosi’s office! The Democrats you serve don’t believe in God. Their platform is openly anti-God. Minneapolis will not become Mogadishu. We will not bend the knee." tweeted Royce White, another GOP politician in Minnesota's 5th Congressional District.
"Ilhan Omar was born in the hell hole of Somalia. Her family fled that wasteland and sought refuge in America. They were welcomed here and Ilhan soon became one of the most influential politicians in the country. And yet she despises the country that took her in. Ungrateful brat," tweeted Daily Wire's Matt Walsh.
Conservative commentator Steven Crowder tweeted: "What's worse: a mass shooting or singing on a plane? Ilhan Omar only felt a need to comment on one of these," referring to the mass shooting in Brooklyn by a black man with anti-white sentiments.
"It's Easter," Mike Cernovich tweeted simply. Easter is the holiest day of the Christian calendar.
"You’re right @IlhanMN. Your beautiful religion never imposes itself on anyone. The Christian and Jewish communities are thriving in Noble Mogadishu," said Concordia University professor Gad Saad.
