YouTuber and influencer Trisha Paytas is mulling over a run for Congress in 2026 for her district in California. The influencer posted a video online where she revealed the plans, but did not indicate which party she would run for.

“I know, it sounds so crazy to me, too,” Paytas said in a new YouTube video. “I really want to be able to truly make a difference because I see so much horrible stuff happening in the world — and happening right here in California as well."

She uploaded the announcement on January 5, where the 37-year-old YouTuber and influencer said she “would love to run" for the House of Representatives in her district where she lives with her husband as well as three children. She later explained more in a TikTok video, where she said she was "currently Googling" about how to run in the election.

“The idea of me being representative for the state of California came to me in a dream — in a vision, if you will,” she said. “It's so vivid to me.” She said that after having her first child in 2022, she was seeing the "world just crumble, little-by-little” and has now been inspired to take more action in the world.

“I never thought of myself as a political person until I started having kids and realizing, like, the world could be just so disastrous [and] dystopian for real by the time they get to be adults,” she said. “I was like, ‘Alright Trish, enough just, like, shutting it out, being ignorant.”

Paytas, to run in the upcoming midterms, will need to complete filing paperwork as well as pay $1,740 as a filing fee or collect 1,740 signatures in lieu of the payment by March 6. This is in addition to running in a primary and declaring her candidacy.

In TikTok, she said that the "main goal" of her candidacy would be to raise the age requirement to enter the adult entertainment industry to 25. According to People, in 2021, Paytas estimated that 70 percent of her income came from OnlyFans. She has since left the platform.
