Jeffrey Epstein’s consort Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently awaiting trial for allegedly procuring underage girls to be raped by Epstein, may be facing additional charges against her for lying under oath about her involvement with his activities.

The New York Post reports that a grand jury investigation that prompted Epstein’s and her arrests “remains active.”

“Federal prosecutors in Maxwell’s criminal case revealed the ongoing investigation in a letter urging a judge to block her from filing newly obtained information in civil cases against her,” reports the Post. “The documents, which Maxwell’s attorneys have called ‘critical new information,’ could jeopardize their ongoing investigation if it is allowed to be filed in the civil cases.”

“As the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York has stated publicly, the investigation into the conduct of the defendant in this case and other possible co-conspirators of Jeffrey Epstein remains active,” prosecutors wrote to the judge.

The prosecutors declined to make the full scope of the investigation public, however.

Maxwell, who was indicted on six counts, pleaded not guilty to the charges and is currently being held in the same jail Epstein was housed in before he allegedly killed himself. Epstein’s death was ruled a suicide when he was found dead on August 10, 2019.
