One America News journalist Jack Posobiec was assaulted by Antifa insurgents at the demonstration to topple the Emancipation Memorial at Lincoln Park, in Washington DC.

On Friday evening, hundreds of Black Lives Matter activists and Antifa insurgents gathered in Lincoln Park in Washington DC to attempt to topple the 144-year-old statue, which was fully funded by former slaves and black Union Army veterans to commemorate President Lincoln’s abolition of slavery.

Also present at the demonstration were several counter-protestors, including an elderly black man who appeared to be a historical tour guide for Capital Buddy Tours, who beseeched the mob not to tear down the historical monument. The man was physically accosted several times by an Antifa member who attempted to prevent him from speaking.

He was repeatedly shouted over by Antifa members, who yelled empty slogans like “No Justice, No Peace” without any care or understanding about the monument they planned to destroy. One female insurgent stated that the man was “not ready for the change” and that he was standing on the wrong side of history by preventing the monument’s destruction.

Posobiec, who was filming the man’s speech, was blocked by members of Antifa from filming the event, all of which he caught live on Periscope. The situation escalated when a black-clad Antifa insurgent wearing a pair of red ski goggles and bicycle helmet (whom I’ll refer to as Goggles here onward) identified Posobiec and accused him of “founding the alt-lite” and of being a “literal Nazi,” drawing a larger group of Antifa to approach and surround the journalist.

Posobiec was flanked by several black men, including the tour guide, who attempted to guide him to safety away from the mob, which continued to swell in numbers following Goggles’ calls to evict him from the park. The park is located on federal, publicly owned land.

As Posobiec tried to walk away from the melee, a female Antifa member and presumed associate of Goggles tried to grab Posobiec’s phone out of his hands as other members of the insurgent group surrounded and attempted to shove him, only to be pushed back by a private security agent accompanying other journalists present at the event. Goggles repeatedly harangued Posobiec, telling him to “leave the park” and “get out of here.”

Several of the "black bloc" militants dumped liquid on Posobiec.

Goggles pursued Posobiec out of the park, prompting a verbal confrontation, in which Posobiec stated that he was already out of the park. He indicated that he was unsure as to what the confused, belligerent militant's demands were, to which the militant responded by blocking him from moving forward in any direction.

Having spotted a small group of police nearby, Posobiec attempted to make his way to towards them, but his advance was stopped—again by Goggles, who insisted he go in the other direction. At one point, Goggles asks why Posobiec won’t return to his vehicle, and suggests that the reason he doesn’t do so is because Posobiec doesn’t want to have his car’s license plates identified, insinuating that Antifa would dox him and find out where he lived.

Goggles then insisted that Posobiec “get the f*** out of the city” and “go back to where he came from.” Posobiec stated that he lives in Washington DC—to which Goggles responded by shoving him. Nevertheless, Posobiec persisted in his walk towards the direction of the police as he was shoved around by various noodle-armed, chubby Antifa militants who made up for their lack of physicality with unbridled, post-adolescent anger, directed solely towards him.

An Antifa insurgent tried to trip Posobiec to make him fall, but he failed to do so and sprinted back into the mob, which continued to pursue Posobiec as journalists from Breitbart, the Daily Caller, and other outlets captured the on-going melee.

At every juncture, Goggles was there to get in Posobiec’s face, repeatedly insisting that he was a “nazi” and that he needed to leave, while actively preventing him from doing so. With the help of other Antifa members, he cornered Posobiec before being pulled aside by other members of the crowd, one of whom he shoved violently to the ground before backing off.

When Posobiec finally made his way to the police with the aid of onlookers, Goggles became belligerent with the police and attempted to start a fight with a police officer who had to push him out of the way when he tried to block the police vehicle that Posobiec had gotten in to leave.

Followed by the mob, Goggles then made his way back to the park while chanting various taunts at the police.

Asked if he was alright by another journalist, Jack replied nonchalantly: "Totally fine. Are you guys having a nice time? I'm thinking about fish tacos for later."

UPDATE: The Post Millennial has identified Goggles as 25-year-old Jason Robert Charter, a self-described "political activist/organizer" and member of Antifa whose only claim to fame comes from his attempt to stir up trouble at CPAC in 2017 by handing out small Russian flags. It was documented in an Atlantic article.

On Twitter, Charter expressed outrage with claims that Posobiec opted to file a police report against him, and that he found it "deplorable" that the DC Metropolitan Police gave Posobiec a free ride to his car.
