"I'm not here to fight about bathrooms," McBride said.
"I'm not here to fight about bathrooms. I'm here to fight for Delawareans and to bring down costs facing families," McBride wrote in a statement posted to X. "Like all members, I will follow the rules as outlined by Speaker Johnson, even if I disagree with them. This effort to distract from the real issues facing this country hasn't distracted me over the last several days, as I've remained hard at work preparing to represent the greatest state in the union come January."
McBride's compliance comes after Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) announced plans to introduce legislation prohibiting men from using women's toilets on US Capitol premises in response to the election of the transgender House representative in November. Rep. Mace ultimately did not need to introduce the measure because House Speaker Johnson issued a resolution on the subject Wednesday morning.
