Shortly after 1pm local time on Thursday, Donald Trump touched down at Del Rio Airport in Texas, kicking off his highly anticipated visit to the southern border.

The former president vowed to fix the crisis, telling fans gathered outside the terminal that it "wouldn't be going to hell" if he was in charge.

"Nice weather, beautiful day, but a very dangerous border," Trump told reporters, "but we're gonna take care of it."

In a press release issued earlier in the day, Trump's campaign called the border a "crime scene," placing the blame squarely at the feet of President Joe Biden.

Trump wasted no time getting down to business, meeting with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and members of the state national guard.

Agents showed the former president just how bad things have gotten at the border as he looked on, taking in the scale of the crisis.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
