Conservative leadership candidate and shadow minister Pierre Poilievre has a lot to say about the skyrocketing inflation in Canada, placing the blame squarely on what he considers to be the Trudeau administration's economic mistakes.

"BREAKING: #JustinFlation skyrockets by 5.7%, the highest in over 30 years. Everything is getting more expensive, and the Trudeau-Brown carbon tax, going up again on April 1, will only add fuel to the fire," tweeted Poilievre on Wednesday.

"Justinflation and the Trudeau/Brown Carbon Tax are making living life too expensive. As Prime Minister, I would fix it: 1. Stop money printing 2. Scrap the carbon tax 3. Make more of what cash buys: energy, food, houses," continues Poilievre in a follow-up tweet, including a formal press release elaborating more on the subject.

Canada's inflation for the month of February has risen 5.7 percent year-over-year, representing "the largest gain since August 1991", according to Statistics Canada.

Statistics Canada goes on to further indicate that "price increases were broad-based." In fact, inflation is even affecting the costs of living spaces, with costs surging at "the fastest year-over-year pace since August 1983."

Gasoline prices are what have risen proportionally the most in Canada. In fact, without taking gasoline into account, the inflation rate drops to 4.7 percent year-over-year for the same statistic.

Dairy product prices are a particular source of concern for officials, as the prices of fresh milk have been rising at the quickest levels month-over-month since April of 1994.
