After committing a series of gaffes that insulted Christian voters, Kamala Harris attempted to repair her image by attending the church of a serial cheater and womanizer, despite intense focus on her own husband's indiscretions. On Sunday, Harris both attended services and spoke to the congregation. She praised Pastor Jamal Bryant’s New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and those in attendance, who sang to her to honor her birthday. The church has hosted five presidents, Bryant said.

Over the weekend, Harris came under fire after Christians at her rally shouted "Jesus is lord" before being escorted out. As they left, Kamala's said “You are at the wrong rally” as the crowd cheered. That response went viral. In her speech to the congregation, she spoke about the parable of the good Samaritan in the gospel of Luke. Sh said the parable teaches the faithful to "love thy neighbor as thyself," but then said "one must ask are all people of faith living those words? Are all people of faith expressing those words in their actions? Do we have leaders in place who understand that in the face of a stranger one should see a neighbor?" Harris spoke about her own faith as well, a topic that does not come up much on her campaign trail.

This was on the heels of Harris campaign surrogate Democratic Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer participating in a bizarre video in which she appeared to mock the sacrament of Communion with left-wing influencer Liz Plank, in a failed attempt to copy a viral TikTok meme. The video was heavily criticized by the Catholic community. It showed Plank on her knees receiving a Dorito in her mouth from Whitmer.

Fans of Bravo’s Housewives series were quick to note that Bryant is a serial cheater and womanizer. Harris spoke about the "sacred right to vote" and "getting souls to the polls." She also spoke about her own church in San Francisco and honored her pastor, who was in attendance as well. The All Things Theology podcast said the speech "raised eyebrows. In what seemed like a clear attempt to pander to voters, Harris made several political statements that intertwined with biblical references, sparking debate over whether she was twisting scripture to align with her political agenda. This visit, aimed at engaging religious communities, has drawn criticism for using the sacred platform of the church to gain political favor."

On the Hardly Initiated podcast, the pastor admitted to cheating on his ex-wife Gizelle Bryant, a cast member on Bravo's reality TV series The Real Housewives of Potomac. An interesting choice for Kamala, given her husband Doug Emhoff's record of infidelity.

Bryant also had a baby out of wedlock with a 17-year-old and refused to pay child support until he was forced to by a court. In another podcast, he took credit for Gizelle's success and said "I forgive her for exposing what I did to her," after he cheated on her.

Emhoff, who had an affair with his family's nanny and impregnated her, has also been accused of slapping his ex-girlfriend, allegations he has not denied.

Despite his infidelity, during the rally at his church with Kamala, Bryant lambasted men for not backing Harris, saying, "In order for me to be a man I gotta know how to support a woman," adding "Something is wrong with brothers who don't know how to support a sister."
