The Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Tuesday found that Kamala Harris was leading Trump 44 to 42 percent, while the previous version of the poll saw Trump leading 43 to 42 percent.
A poll released by Reuters on Tuesday revealed that Kamala Harris holds a two-point lead over Donald Trump following Biden dropping out of the race and endorsing his vice president to be his replacement. However, the Reuters poll that showed a swing in voters for Harris has interviewed a larger share of Democrat voters compared to the previous poll on the topic.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Tuesday found that Kamala Harris received 44 percent support among registered voters, while Trump received 42 percent support, a difference that falls in the poll’s 3.3 percent margin of error for registered voters. The poll was conducted between July 22 and 23 of 1,241 Americans, 1,018 of them being registered voters.
An early July poll, conducted before Biden dropped out of the race and from the same groups, found that Trump led Harris 43 to 42 percent among registered voters. That poll surveyed 1,070 Americans, with 892 being registered voters.
In the early July poll, 348 Democrats were polled compared to 322 Republicans and 303 independents. In the latest poll, 426 Democrats were polled compared to 376 Republicans and 341 independents.
Democrats made up 35.7 percent of all voters polled for the early July survey. The latest poll saw a 1.5 percent increase in Democrat voters polled, with the share of voters polled being Democrat at 37.2 percent. The share of Republican voters polled dropped 0.2 percent (33 to 32.8 percent), and the share of independent voters polled dropped 1.3 percent (31.1 to 29.8 percent).
In the recent poll, 84 percent of Democrats said they would vote for Harris compared to 4 percent of Republicans and 38 percent of Independents. For Trump, 3 percent of Democrats, 89 percent of Republicans, and 30 percent of independents said they would vote for him.

The poll comes after Biden dropped out of the race on Sunday. Biden had been facing increasing calls from both sides of the aisle to step down following a dismal debate performance in June. After dropping out, Biden endorsed Harris to take his place. In the days since, Harris has reportedly gathered enough delegate support to become the presumptive Democrat nominee. The party's candidate will officially be nominated at the Democratic National Convention in late August.Powered by The Post Millennial CMS™ Comments
