FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that the US has extradited one of the terrorists allegedly responsible for the murder of 13 American service members at Abbey Gate during the chaotic US withdrawal from Afghanistan under the Biden administration.

“As President Trump just announced, I can report that tonight the FBI, DOJ, and CIA have extradited one of the terrorists responsible for the murder of the 13 American soldiers at Abbey Gate during the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal,” Patel posted on X on the night of President Donald Trump’s address to the joint session fo Congress. “One step closer to justice for these American heroes and their families.”

During his address, Trump announced that the top suspect behind the attack had been apprehended.

"Tonight, I am pleased to announce that we have just apprehended the top terrorist responsible for that atrocity," Trump said. "And he is right now on his way here to face the swift sword of American justice."

According to CBS News, the suspect, identified as Mohammed Sharifullah, was captured roughly 10 days ago in a joint raid between Pakistani intelligence and the Central Intelligence Agency. He has since been extradited to the United States and is set to appear at an initial court hearing in Virginia on Wednesday afternoon.

The Biden administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan resulted in the deaths of 13 US service members, including 11 Marines, one Navy corpsman, and one sailor, who were defending Kabul's airport. Additionally, hundreds of Americans and a significant number of Afghan allies were left behind as the country fell under Taliban rule.

“This was a very momentous day for those 13 families, who I actually got to know very well, most of them, whose children were murdered and the many people that were so badly — over 42 people so badly injured on that fateful day in Afghanistan. What a horrible day,” Trump said.

“I spoke to many of the parents and loved ones and they're all in our hearts tonight,” he added. “Just spoke to them on the phone. We had a big call. Every one of them called and everybody was on the line and they did nothing but cry with happiness. They were very happy. As happy as you can be under those circumstances. Their child, brother, sister, son, daughter, was killed for no reason whatsoever.”
