LAPD investigation using body camera footage discredits Antifa activist's viral claims

The Los Angeles Police Department has determined that claims of unnecessary force and action brought forth by Antifa member and journalist Vishal Pratap Singh against LAPD officers were "unfounded" following a July 2021 incident.

"I just received a letter from LAPD Chief Michel Moore— who told me that he does not think there was any unnecessary force used when LAPD broken my camera hand with a baton while I was reporting at Wi Spa. LAPD continues their assault on journalist rights and press freedom," Singh wrote on Twitter.

Singh included the letter from the LAPD, which stated that an in-depth investigation had been conducted into the claims.

"The Department completed the investigation into your complaint regarding the conduct of employees of the Los Angeles Police Department that was reported on November 11, 2021," the letter begins.

The letter stated that the investigation included a review of relevant Department documentation, interviewing witnesses, viewing footage from body cameras and vehicle cameras, inspecting the scene for evidence, adding that "the investigation has gone through several levels of review prior to final adjudication."

"Your allegations that an employee used unnecessary force when he struck you with a baton and took unnecessary action against you as a member of the media have been classified as Unfounded, which means that the investigation determined the allegation did not occur as you described," the letter continued.

"Although the resolution may not be to your satisfaction, we appreciate you for bringing this matter to our attention. It is the goal of the Los Angeles Police Department to provide the highest level of quality service to every member of the community," it concluded.

In his tweet, Singh linked to previous videos of the incident, which showed Antifa members dressed in black clashing with officers.

Footage from Singh’s phone camera, which was damaged, showed officers demanding that the group back up onto the sidewalk, which they did not follow.

The clash occurred during the Wi Spa protests in Los Angeles, which sparked after it was revealed that a biological male who identifies as a female was naked inside female facilities, where a 6-year-old child had been.

Singh posted a photo of himself to Twitter following the Wi Spa protest incident, stating that his hand had been shattered and blasting the badge number of the officer who allegedly attacked him to his followers.

As revealed by The Post Millennial’s Andy Ngo, Singh has a history of violence, both in enacting violence and calling for violence on social media.

In September of 2021, Singh was arrested and charged with battery. He was released the next day, on October 1.

Singh has also called for people to assault Latino videographer and Turning Point USA contributor Drew Hernandez for his video coverage of a public Pride event in June.

"If anyone sees this homophobic and transphobic weirdo at #LAPride following kids and filming them hanging out with loving LGBTQ+ people, throw him the f*ck out. Who spends the entire day filming children without consent and then accuses everyone ELSE of being a groomer or pedo?" Singh said on Twitter.

Tweets from Singh show the man calling for violence against the LAPD, and for people to "burn down the entire system of white male supremacy."

Despite these acts of violence, the Asian American Journalists Association had invited Singh to speak at their national conference on the panel, "The habits of successful freelancers."

Aftiner the inclusion of Singh was exposed though, the AAJA removed Singh from their convention.
