A black militia leader known as "Grandmaster Jay" was arrested in Kentucky on federal charges.

John Johnson, also known as "Grandmaster Jay," is the leader of the "Not F###ing Around Coalition" (NFAC), an armed black nationalist militia. A September clash between the NFAC and Louisville police lead to his arrest and charges of "assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers or employees," WDRB reports.

On September 4, at around 8:30 pm, Johnson allegedly pointed a rifle at Louisville Metro Police Department officers and federal officers, according to WDRB.

Officers were reportedly conducting surveillance on a group of NFAC militants in Louisville's Jefferson Square. The transmission from a police radio described the group as "six to eight heavily armed individuals."

Responding officer climbed to the top of the Jefferson County Grand Jury Building to observe the demonstrators when three of the five officers were blinded by flashlights believed to be attached to the ends of the demonstrator's rifles, according to a court affidavit.

All present officers identified Johnson as the demonstrator pointing his rifle towards the group of officers, court documents said.

"All officers advised they were concerned Johnson might intentionally, or even accidentally, discharge a round at them," an affidavit states.

"All officers recognized that the distance between themselves and Johnson was well within the effective range of the AR platform style rifle," it continued.

LMPD spokeswoman, Jessie Halladay, reportedly met with Johnson and the group of militants just after they had allegedly pointed a rifle at officers. Halladay later identified Johnson from security footage of the incident, according to court documents.

Johnson was reportedly booked Thursday, December 3, at around 1 pm. Johnson is currently being held in Oldham County Detention Center.
