A leading NDP politician has called on Justin Trudeau's Youth Minister to resign in the wake of the ongoing WE scandal.

Charlie Angus, who has led the NDP's assault against the Trudeau government in recent weeks, tweeted that the government's "internal documents completely contradict Liberal claims on WE. This was not driven by civil service."

Angus continued by saying the Youth Minister Bardish Chagger "met with Craig Kielburger on April 17. It was the key meeting that gave the Kielburgers the inside track. Why didn't she come clean on her role?"

Minister Chagger seemed to be the Liberal's ideal candidate to deal with the fallout of the WE scandal with the Shadow Finance Minister Pierre Poilievre accusing Bill Morneau and the prime minister of throwing her under the bus.

Bill Morneau later resigned in the aftermath of this scandal, although he did not directly say that this was a consequence of his failure to recuse himself from cabinet discussion relating to the $900 million contract given to WE by the government.

Monreau, it later turned out, had familial connections to WE: his daughters had either been employed by the organization or had been endorsed by their cofounders.

As well as this, Morneau accepted a vacation from WE, which he only informed Parliamentary committees about a day before his testimony.

Neither the Liberal Party nor Minister Chagger have commented on Angus' statement.
