UPDATE: Barron Trump has now declined to be a Florida delegate due to previous commitments. “While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments,” the Office of Melania Trump stated.

Original story follows:

On Thursday, it was revealed that Donald Trump's youngest son, Barron, will be making his political debut as an at-large state delegate for Florida at the Republican National Convention in July.

Upon hearing the news, many leftists across social media celebrated the fact that, as a political figure, he would be "fair game" for criticism.

"He's fair game," one user wrote on X. "I repeat fair game. Don't care. You came for Chelsea at 13. You went after the Obama girls as children & still are attacking them. This anchor baby deserves nothing less. He's a lab experiment gone wrong."

"If Barron Trump speaks publicly at the Republican National Convention then I'm sorry guys, he is fair game," another added. "I will roast that lanky dweeb like a marshmallow on a camp fire."

Some questioned why the youngest Trump had decided to enter the political arena knowing full well how he would be treated.

"I very much believe this is going to end very badly," an X user warned. "He's now fair game to the media. I'm actually surprised. I thought Melania would do everything to prevent this but if Barron, now an adult, personally made the decision to participate in his father's circus, so be it."

One user suggested that, on the left, "the least we can do is treat him with the same respect that was given to Hunter Biden," to which another user pointed out that, "Barron Trump is a high school senior who doesn't smoke crack with hookers or launder money through Ukraine."

While much of the reaction to the 18-year-old's decision was focused on attacking him, some in the Trump camp celebrated the fact that another one of his descendants was entering the political arena.

One of many such posts simply read, "Barron Trump 2044."

Until his eighteenth birthday, he largely remained out of the spotlight, however as soon as the clock struck midnight on March 20, those on the left jumped to point out that he was now "fair game."

Among them was former NBC executive Mike Sington.

"I posted he was 'fair game' now, meaning, as an adult, he's 'fair game' for criticism from the press," Sington explained after deleting his post. "Someone pointed out to me 'fair game' could mean fair game to be harmed. I don't wish physical harm on anyone."
