A Liberal MP has admitted that Trudeau's CERB program during the pandemic undoubtedly was abused by scroungers, according to Blacklock's Reporter.
Reports later confirmed that the number of people who claimed CERB was six times higher than the number of people who were made jobless by the pandemic.
"There is no doubt that when creating a program as quickly as we did, there is going to be some abuse of that program," said Liberal MP Kevin Lamoureux.
"I suspect when I hear from my Conservative friends they will highlight some of those problems which we are very much aware of," he added.
Nearly 9 million Canadians claimed CERB. Yet, only 1.4 million Canadians were made jobless by the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown restrictions.
"That is an incredible percentage of the population," said the Liberal MP. "Our population is over 37 million and nine million Canadians were supported by one program, a program that was created out of nothing."
During the pandemic, the Trudeau government pushed through CERB with no opposition. This would give $2,000 per month to those who were made jobless by the pandemic.
Despite the astonishing level of fraud, the Liberal MP continued to justify CERB, saying it helped people "pay for basic needs such as their groceries, their rent, their mortgages."
Initially, the Trudeau government budgeted $24 billion for the program. The costs, however, rose to $81 billion. The Trudeau government has never attempted to explain how this program went so massively over budget.
