A senior advisor to socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has said that she is looking for a "comms killer" in order to shape how Islam is viewed. The advisor, Zara Rahim, has been working for Mamdani since February last year.

Rahim posted to her LinkedIn, "I'm looking for a mid level comms killer with experience shaping narratives around Muslim identity and culture— someone who thinks beyond standard playbooks, understands perception and nuance, and can critically assess and name how Muslims are framed and held to different editorial standards."

"This is high stakes work. Rigor, discretion, judgment, and cultural fluency matter. If this sounds like you (or someone you trust), please reach out! Should be based in New York. At the very least, must love The City of New York," Rahim added in the work call-out.

Mamdani has a history with the issue of Islam and has been accused of not taking the threat of antisemitism seriously. He previously refused to condemn the phrase, "Globalize the Intifada," but then later said he would "discourage" it. Other advisors in his orbit also have controversial histories on the issue. The mayor's chief legal counsel, Ramzi Kassem, has defended an Al Qaeda terrorist in court.

The NYC mayor also campaigned with Imam Siraj Wahhaj, who was an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing jihadist attack.

On her LinkedIn, Rahim states she is "a strategic communications expert, advisor, producer, and cultural worker. She served as a Senior Advisor to Zohran Mamdani during his historic mayoral campaign, helping shape the narrative, cultural strategy, and communications that carried him to City Hall."
