Daevon Silva, 23, was bashed with a baseball bat just a little after 1 am on Monday morning and then fatally stabbed in the back and on his thigh by the three suspects, police sources told the New York Post. Silva was later pronounced dead after he was rushed to the hospital. It was also revealed that the victim was living at a Rhode Island address outside the city.
Police have been on a manhunt for the three suspects believed to have been involved in the fatal stabbing. One was wearing a purple sweater as well as a black ski mask, another was wearing a black jacket with brown boots and dark pants, and the third was wearing an all black outfit, police sources told the outlet.
It was not immediately clear what took place leading up to the stabbing. A knife was recovered from the scene, where there were also blood stains present. The report of the crime comes as there was another chaotic scene not far from Times Square, in Queens on Sunday night, where a mob beat a couple in their yard after the two tried to confront the mob doing donuts in the street and driving through property yards.
There have been rising concerns with crime as socialist New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is set to take office and has laid out a plan to implement the "Department of Community Safety," which will use mental health and social workers to address multiple different crimes instead of beefing up the NYPD.
