Trans track star racking up wins in California women's sports is brother to Olympian Alysa Liu

It has been revealed that a trans-identifying male athlete who has been dominating women's track and field events in California is the brother of US Olympic figure skater Alysa Lui. Jaylin Lui, born Joshua, took home eight first-place trophies at high school seasonal races and meets in 2025, Reduxx first reported.

Records show he outperformed his female competitors this year by a large margin and is currently ranked the number-one "female" runner on his team in the 200- and 400-meter races, as well as number one in the quarter-mile in the Tri-County Athletic League.

The outlet reported that he only recently began identifying as "Jaylin," as reflected in his gold-medal-winning sister's Olympic figure skating reports, in which reports referred to him as Joshua at the time.

In 2026, Jaylin won first place in every 200 and 400-meter race he competed in for Albany. He also won first place at the Tri-County Athletic League Finals held on May 8, according to the publication.

According to online reports, Jaylin has also been participating in other women's sporting events, including girls' varsity basketball and ultimate frisbee. He has performed exceptionally well. 

Recently, Jaylin announced on social media that he won a silver medal at a basketball tournament. He also played for El Cerrito High School at the Ultimate High School National Invite. The event took place in Oregon from June 12 to 13. El Cerrito was one of several women's teams that competed with male players.

After the championship, Jaylin's performance was praised by a news outlet as "extremely dominant." In the end, El Cerrito lost in the semifinals to South Eugene High School, which also competed with at least one male player, per Reddux.

Jaylin rarely mentions his Olympic sister Alysa on his online accounts. He was one of five children born to surrogates and had a different egg donor than his gold-medal-winning sister. Alysa has not publicly mentioned her brother dominating the female sporting industry.
