Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was accused of harassing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) by "screaming" at her on Wednesday. On Thursday, she categorically denied that allegation.
Ocasio-Cortez alleges that Greene, a pro-MAGA congresswoman, confronted her outside the House chamber on Wednesday and called out her name multiple times. Greene then asked Ocasio-Cortez why she supported Antifa and BLM, referring to them as terrorist groups.
According to The Hill, Greene in turn said that "there was no screaming," and added that the House Ethics Committee should look into AOC for suggesting that previous Trump staffers should be punished for their affiliation with the previous administration.
This project, the "Trump Accountability Project", has since ceased to exist, but at the time, Greene opined, it could have served against former Trump staffers "to destroy their lives and prevent future employment." Greene went on, "She [AOC] threatened the livelihoods of Americans for simply being Republicans."
This, in turn, was in response to a statement by Nancy Pelosi, the House Speaker. Pelosi had suggested earlier on Thursday in a press conference that Greene should face the Ethics Committee for the alleged "screaming" incident.
Greene and AOC are supposed to engage in a one-on-one debate in the near future regarding the "Green New Deal", but no plans have been made concrete yet to make it happen.
