House Oversight Committee member, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) confirmed Thursday that the "unnamed" foreign national who allegedly bribed Joe and Hunter Biden with $10 million, was Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky. Hunter Biden sat on the Burisma board, and his father Joe Biden went on to threaten the withholding of promised funds to Ukraine until such time as they fired a prosecutor who was looking into Burisma.
According to emails obtained by The Daily Caller from Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop, he and his business associates attempted to get Zlochevsky a US visa while he was being investigated by prosecutor Viktor Shokin for corruption shortly after Joe Biden’s son was appointed to the board of the Ukrainian energy firm. Hunter was paid the exorbitant sum of $83,000 a month to sit on the board.
Then-Vice President Joe Biden accused Shokin of corruption and was successful in threatening to pull a $1 billion US loan guarantee as leverage in order to push for Shokin’s removal. Shokin was removed, and the funds were delivered.
Shokin was replaced by Yuriy Lutsenko, who cleared Zlochevsky and Burisma of criminal charges in 2019, but Zlochevsky and his associates were eventually charged in 2020 for attempting $6 million in bribes to halt the ongoing investigation.
Experts told the outlet that Biden and his associates were potentially “engaging in registrable lobbying activity,” possibly violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
House Oversight Committee members have seen a redacted version of an FBI FD-1023 form, in which an informant allegedly detailed how Zlochevsky spoke to him about making a $10 million bribe to the Bidens.
Greene stated that FBI Director Christopher Wray redacted the foreign national’s name, however, “within the same sentence, it says ‘him/ Burisma.'”
According to the emails obtained by the Daily Caller, Hunter Biden from 2014-16 worked with former Burisma board member Devon Archer, Rosemont Seneca adviser Eric Schwerin, former Boies Schiller & Flexner LLP Partner Heather King and others in order to assist Mykola Zlochevsky with his visa reapplication process after his visa was revoked by the US State Department in 2014.
The emails also showed that Hunter and his associates communicated with Burisma board member Vadim Pozharskyi, about Zlochevsky’s visa application starting in May 2014.
In a May 2014 email, King recommended a PR firm, an investigative research firm and a lobbyist to Archer and Hunter to work on the visa because “me going on my own means I’d have to register” as a lobbyist and recommended a lobbyist to Pozharskyi to work on getting Zlochevsky off the State Department’s visa “ban list” that he was added to after Ukraine’s Maidan Revolution in 2014.
In June, emails obtained by The Caller show Pozharskyi told King in early June that Zlochevsky was “prepared to apply to US embassy for US visa” and said he needed a reason to travel to the United States.
According to the outlet, Pozharskyi asked King’s company to send Zlochevsky an invitation to be “signed by one of companies lawyer/partner, namely H. Biden” because “…firstly having Hunters [sic] name on invitation will invite embassy [sic] to consider carefully that application. Secondly If [sic] he is denied in obtaining visa, then your company, that actually [sic] invited Nikolay could work with state department on this.”
In a June 2014 email to Archer, Hunter used “NZ” to refer to the Ukrainian businessman and wrote, “If we are worried about NZ or image issues they will just continue to bury us with the nepotism/ privileged BS. On the other hand, if we embrace it- say why we really think we are on the right side of the fence- argue over it- know our shit- speak intelligently about energy and the future of US foreign policy that depends upon it.”
The associates continued working on the process through September and emails revealed Hunter checking in on the progress and on Oct. 1 Pozharskyi emailed Zlochevsky’s passport and US visa copies to Archer and stated said the visa was issued in May 2011, when Zlochevsky was working as Ukraine’s Minister of Ecology, and was supposed to be good for five years.
Since the visa problem was not yet resolved, this prevented Burisma from holding an upcoming board meeting in Washington, DC.
On Oct. 20, Pozharskyi asked Archer for an update on the “visa issue” and Archer forwarded the email to Hunter asking if there had been “Any progress with DHS?”
According to the emails, Hunter and his associates also attempted to acquire a Mexican visa for Zlochevsky while setting up a meeting for Burisma in the country and Hunter contacted Miguel Aleman, known as “MAM” in the emails, a Mexican businessman and grandson of a former Mexican president, to get Zlochevsky a visa and for help in other business ventures in February 2015.
On Feb 5, Archer told Pozharskyi “Hunter is checking in” with Aleman to “provide cover” for Zlochevsky on the “visa issue” for his trip to Mexico and Archerr Zlochevsky’s passport and revoked US visa.
Hunter emailed Aleman telling him Zlochevsky’s “USA Visa was suspended and we are working on that” and added his business associate Jeff Cooper into the conversation to help with Zlochevsky’s trip to Mexico.
Archer emailed Pozharskyi on Feb. 16, 2015, about how Hunter was still working with “our contact” and suggested Pozharskyi come to Mexico by himself if they could not ensure safe passage for Zlochevsky.
According to the emails, things were not going as smoothly as expected leading to Hunter asking Cooper if he had heard from Aleman. Cooper replied that Aleman delayed their phone call but promised to pay them $250,000 as “band-aid” for the inconvenience, to which Biden told Cooper he wanted to tell Aleman to “shove it” and claimed the delay “most likely jeopardizes my board position.”
Cooper suggested bringing Joe Biden into the conversation to help, writing, “Soooooo, we have to go with the theory that Miguel has been cut out, at least temporarily. Maybe a call from your [sic] or your dad to his dad? Maybe that shakes things loose? Whaddya think? I really don’t want to give up on it because I truly believe in this sh*t.”
The then-Vice President met with Aleman’s father, Miguel Aleman Velasco, at the Naval Observatory in November 2015 according to The New York Post.
In 2016, Hunter emailed Aleman, upset the associate had ghosted him after he was his guest at the White House. “I want you at the plane when the VP lands with your Mom and Dad and you completely ignore me. I have brought every single person you have ever asked me to bring to the F’ing White House and the Vice President’s house and the inauguration and then you go completely silent.”
On Feb. 17, 2015, Pozharskyi emailed Hunter Biden and Archer about whether it was worth going to Mexico without Zlochevsky and wondered if they could go to Mexico on behalf of Burisma. Biden and Pozharskyi then scheduled a call for later in the day.
March emails reveal that Hunter told Pozharskyi to “thank Nicolay for me” and mentioned a watch box he’d left in Pozharskyi’s hotel room.
Emails also showed that Hunter planned to work with Aleman and Cooper on business ventures in Mexico and a month later, Pozharskyi sent Hunter Biden and Archer the agenda for Burisma’s upcoming board meeting which included Zlochevsky’s visa and an issue with the DHS on the agenda for the meeting.
In November 2015, the Zlochevsky’s issues were still unresolved, Hunter Biden responded to Pozharskyi’s frustrations in an email saying he would call “Sally and Karen,” executives at the international lobbying firm Blue Star Strategies.
Former Obama Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Acting Director John Sandweg was brought in to work with them on Zlochevsky’s visa and in the emails Sandweg said he asked people from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for help.
A source close told the Daily Caller that Sandweg worked solely with Schwerin and Zlochevsky but did not communicate with Archer or Hunter.
According to the emails obtained by the outlet, on Oct 20, 2015, the Blue Star lobbyists sent Burisma a contract proposal which Hunter and Archer advised Pozharskyi to sign and Schwerin had an assistant schedule a call for Pozharskyi, Archer and Hunter Biden to finalize the Blue Star contract three days later.
Even though Zlochevsky’s legal troubles in Ukraine were thought to be resolved in January 2017, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) in 2020 charged Zlochevsky and his associates for attempting to send $6 million in bribes to shut down the investigation and in in 2021, Ukraine’s PGO said the investigations into Zlochevsky had been closed and would not be reopened.
The corruption case against Zlochevsky was originally prosecuted by Vitaly Yarema, but he was later accused of colluding with Zlochevsky and was replaced by Victor Shokin in February 2015.
Then-Vice President Joe Biden worked with many Western officials and Ukrainian activists to accuse Shokin of corruption.
Joe Biden even boasted at a March 2016 panel with the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), about using a $1 billion loan guarantee as leverage for Ukraine to fire Shokin.
Local media reported that then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said Shokin had to resign because he lost public trust and The New York Times reported in 2019 that Zlochevsky’s allies supported Shokin’s termination because he was allegedly threatening to prosecute Burisma if he did not receive bribes.
Shokin was replaced by Yuriy Lutsenko who later cleared Zlochevsky and Burisma of criminal charges, according to the Kyiv Post reported.
According to a transcript released by a whistleblower in September 2019, then-President Donald Trump called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss reinstating Lutsenko and potentially investigating Joe Biden for getting Shokin fired and accused Biden of getting Shokin fired to protect Burisma and Hunter.
The phone call with Zelenskyy was used by House Democrats as the reason to impeach Trump in 2020.
Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chair of the House Oversight Committee, said on June 5 the FBI is actively investigating the Biden bribery allegations and Taylor-Greene told the Caller that Zlochevsky’s visa correspondence is in the broader scope of Oversight’s investigation.
In testimony to the House Ways and Means Committee released in June IRS Whistleblower Gary Shapley said “[t]here were also potential FARA issues relating to 2014 and 2015” that Biden-appointed U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia allegedly refused to act on and accused the Justice Department of slow-walking the Hunter Biden investigation and contradicted sworn testimony from Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland.
