Former first lady Melania Trump posted a heartwarming message on social media to children at the The Children's Inn at the National Institute of Health on Valentine’s Day.
"On this #ValentinesDay, I think of the brave & inspirational children at @TheChildrensInn @NIH where I visited the past few years," Melania Trump said on Twitter. "Sending them love & strength, today & everyday. #HappyValentinesDay."
At the Children’s Inn, located in Bethesda Maryland, families are allowed to stay a free of charge and participate in the National Institute of Health’s research while their children receive medical care, the Washington Examiner reports.
Melania reportedly visited the clinic on Valentine's Day for three consecutive years as First Lady.
"We are so honored that the First Lady has chosen to spend Valentine’s Day with the children and families of The Children’s Inn once again this year," Jennie Lucca, CEO of The Children’s Inn at NIH, said.
"We’ve come to look forward to her visit every year. Mrs. Trump brings a delightful experience for our families and awareness to the much-needed medical research happening here at the NIH," she continued.
Children's health was a priority for Melania during her time as First Lady. she used her position to foster donations for an outdoor "healing space" at the Children’s National Health System only months into her time in the White House, according to the Examiner.
"I want to thank everyone involved in this project," the former First Lady said about the project.
"It took so many kind and caring people focused on these very brave and amazing children, and the end result is something everyone should be proud of. I’m so grateful that patients and their families will be able to go through the healing process outside in this wonderful space," she added.
