“Dylan Mulvaney tried to take a shortcut, because something tells me that he would much rather just get attention than actually convey the truth of the story."
Emmons, addressing the show’s casting of Mulvaney as one of the female characters, said, "What they've got now is this new casting choice where they have cast Dylan Mulvaney, the trans sensation of ‘Days of Girlhood,’ who is going to be playing Anne Boleyn. The show won Tony a few years ago. And of course, Dylan Mulvaney's 'Days of Girlhood was a big splash for everybody. I don't know if you win Emmys for TikTok series. But he definitely got a trip to the White House to tell Joe Biden all about how important it is to trans kids. Now he's playing this on Broadway, and I'm super interested to know what you think about this.”
Knowles responded, talking about how Mulvaney has aimed to become famous through his TikToks and that although fame can be in the aim of something greater, Mulvaney has only aimed to please his own vanity.
“So when he says, ‘I just always wanted to be famous. I just wanted to be a famous Broadway star,’ the follow up question should be, ‘Well, okay, in service of what?’ Because if you just stop there, it's in service of your own vanity. If you say, I want to be a famous Broadway star so that I can tell the truth of the story, so that I can convey some beautiful aspect of the human condition by doing check off or spring bird or something, or instant, okay, that tells me something. But if it's just in service of your own vanity, well, that's totally selfish.”
Knowles added, “Dylan Mulvaney tried to take a shortcut, because something tells me that he would much rather just get attention than actually convey the truth of the story and create a work of art and allow people actually deceiving.”
Both Emmons and Knowles, who have backgrounds in theater and acting, spoke about how acting as well as theater were mean to convey the truth through story, but that Mulvaney is not trying to convey a truth, but has put on the false act of being a woman outside the theater.
They both also discussed the Antifa propaganda film, “One Battle After Another.” Knowles said that the industry of feature films has been slowing down and has been taken over by the liberal elite.
Knowles said the movie is just playing out the “leftist impulse for vigilante violence.” Emmons agreed, saying that impulse is also playing out in the real world with the leftist violence and anti-ICE riots taking place as of late.
