“I’m gonna kill myself, I’m gonna make you watch, my blood is on your hands, you ruined my life,” Sherrone Moore allegedly told Paige Shiver.
The 39-year-old coach is facing charges after he allegedly barged into his assistant Paige Shiver's apartment on Wednesday, grabbed butter knives and scissors, and threatened to kill himself while he did so, the New York Post reported. “I’m gonna kill myself, I’m gonna make you watch, my blood is on your hands, you ruined my life,” Moore allegedly told Shiver during the encounter on Wednesday amid his firing.
Shiver had broken off the alleged affair with Moore just a couple of days beforehand. Although Moore is a married man with daughters, he had been in a relationship with Shiver for years, Washtenaw County assistant prosecutor Kati Rezmierski said at Moore's arraignment on Friday.
Moore is facing charges of home invasion, stalking, as well as breaking and entering. A judge entered a not guilty plea on behalf of the fired football coach. Shiver had reportedly spoken to the University of Michigan Athletic Department when Moore continuously tried to contact her, even though she was ignoring him. On Wednesday afternoon, the school said Moore had been fired because of an "inappropriate relationship" with a staff member at the school in a public statement.
After Moore allegedly broke into her apartment, Shiver said she would call the authorities, and he took off. Her 911 call was made at around 4 pm on Wednesday. “Male at the location is attacking her … said he’s been stalking her for months,” dispatch audio surrounding the call said.
Moore's wife, Kelli, then called 911 and said he was suicidal after he had gotten fired from his post. Police officers reported, “according to wife and (Moore’s) mother, he is in an unknown parking lot somewhere. We are attempting to have wife contact him to try and come home."
He was later taken into custody and booked into Washtenaw County Jail and is facing up to five years in prison over the ordeal.
