“The matter involving Mr. Moore remains under active investigation by law enforcement."
Moore was arrested on Wednesday in connection with an assault investigation. Prior to that, he was publicly fired from his position by the University of Michigan because of an "inappropriate" relationship he had with a staff member. The staff member has not been publicly identified by the school, but some reports have pointed to staff member Paige Shiver, who helps with the football team’s administrative tasks.
According to the New York Post, which obtained the audio, “Male at the location is attacking her … said he’s been stalking her for months," a portion of the recording stated. “It’s gonna be at the Well Church, 211 Willis Road … suicidal … driving a black Chevy Tahoe blacked out." The police call was recorded between 4:06 PM and 4:36 pm on December 10 and was from the Washtenaw County Police.
According to public records, a 911 call had come in from the address belonging to the “executive assistant to the head coach" regarding the attack, per the Post.
The Michigan Athletic Director Warde Manuel announced Moore's firing and just hours later, the head coach was taken into custody. He has now been replaced by interim football coach Biff Poggi. Moore is being held in Washtenaw County Jail and was booked on Wednesday evening at around 8 pm.
“The matter involving Mr. Moore remains under active investigation by law enforcement, and as a result, we do not expect charging decisions or an arraignment today. Mr. Moore remains in custody at the Washtenaw County Jail," Prosecutor Eli Savit on Thursday. “As this remains an active investigation, we are unable to comment further at this time, but our office will provide an update once a decision on charges is made."
