A Mississauga man was arrested in response to a 2018 alleged attempted murder, CTV reports. Roger Jaggernauth, 50, is accused of hiring someone to pose as a deliveryman and shoot his ex-common law partner with a crossbow in Mississauga, Ontario.

The incident occurred on the night of November 7, 2018 at the woman’s residence on Bayberry Drive off of Winston Churchill Boulevard, just southeast of the 401 exit in Mississauga.

When the victim opened her door, a man (who has yet to be identified) concealing a crossbow inside of a large box, aimed at and shot her with a bolt.

The 44-year-old woman was in critical condition but managed to alert authorities. She was rushed to a trauma centre and survived the assault.

The woman was left with life altering injuries and credits paramedics and police with her survival.

A video statement screened at a news conference on Tuesday featured a statement from the victim. “I did not open my eyes for about 10 days. That’s when I realized I survived. Although I survived the attack, I would never be the same again,” she included in her message.

“To say this has taken a toll on me physically and emotionally is an understatement. Not only do I live with constant pain, but I live in constant fear,” she said.

Police say Jaggernauth has been charged with attempted murder, criminal harassment, and counselling an indictable offence.

Peel Police are offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man who was responsible for shooting the victim.
