The Biden administration has announced that it is planning to spend trillions of dollars in an ambitious, and for some people scary, new spending plan.

This new package, estimated to run the country more than $3 trillion in new debt, is right on the heels of the last $1.9 trillion spending bill, that was just recently signed into law by President Biden.

According to the Washington Post, the areas in which spending will be increased are education, housing, and climate change, among others.

Biden in a speech said, "It’s critical to demonstrate that government can function — can function and deliver prosperity, security, and opportunity for the people in this country."

Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), head of the Environment and Public Works Committee, told reporters in a press conference that she is "very disappointed" with what she is seeing in terms of the massive government spending. Capito continued:

"I think we need to talk to the American people and say, 'Is this what you envision with infrastructure? Are these job creators? Are we re-engineering our own social fabric here with a 50-vote majority?'"

Sen. Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) said during a press conference of his own regarding the new spending plan:

"The American people know we need big, bold change.  [The pandemic] has shown the private sector can’t do it alone … and the federal government has to be a big part of it. I believe the American people want it and are ready for it."
