This poll is one of several showing growing calls by New Yorkers for Adams to resign.
Adams, who is facing allegations of accepting illegal campaign donations from Turkey in exchange for political favors, currently has a low 26 percent approval rating. In a hypothetical Democratic primary, he ranked third, trailing behind former Governor Andrew Cuomo and State Attorney General Letitia James.
This poll is one of several showing growing calls by New York City residents for Adams to resign, yet he has largely dismissed the criticism and remains in office as he prepares for a potential trial next year. Last month, Adams pleaded not guilty to the charges.
“He should step aside,” said 67-year-old Manhattan Democrat Maria Fuentes, 67, per the New York Times. “You can’t trust him. Who else is he taking bribes from that we don’t know about?”
“My grandmother used to always say, ‘Show me who you walk with, and I’ll show you who you are,’” she added. “And he’s walking with a lot of people who are under investigation.”
The poll also found that about half of New Yorkers think the city is heading in the wrong direction, with only 35 percent saying it is on the right track. A number of high-profile New York Democrats have indicated they may be running for Mayor amid Adams’ indictment, and rumors have continued that Andrew Cuomo could be looking to make a political comeback by running for mayor.

Most New Yorkers voted for this clown. Not only did they want the clown, they wanted the circus that came with him. Enjoy.
