NBC News admitted to breaking the rules in deceptively editing a clip of Attorney General William Barr talking about the case of Michael Flynn, former National Security Advisor.

Though NBC News tweeted an apology, people are still demanding the network issue an on-air apology.

The clip, which aired on Chuck Todd's "Meet the Press," featured Barr being asked by CBS News' Catherine Herridge how the decision to dismiss Flynn's case will be looked at moving forward.

Todd played a clip that showed Barr responding with "history is written by the winners, so it largely depends on who's writing the history."

Todd then criticized Barr for the comment, saying he was "struck by the cynicism of the answer—it's a correct answer, but he's the attorney general. He didn't make the case that he was upholding the rule of law. He was almost admitting that, yeah, this was a political job."

The part that NBC News aired did not show that Barr said that the decision "upheld the rule of law." The network was immediately called out for deceptively editing the clip, which led to NBC's "Meet the Press" Twitter admitting wrongdoing in a reply tweet.

"You’re correct," tweeted the NBC News' show after Department of Justice spokeswoman Kerri Kupec tore apart the clip. “Earlier today, we inadvertently and inaccurately cut short a video clip of an interview with AG Barr before offering commentary and analysis. The remaining clip included important remarks from the attorney general that we missed, and we regret the error.”

The network did not say if it would issue an on-air apology.

The Justice Department dropped the Flynn case Thursday after internal memos sparked red flags regarding the validity of the investigation.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany was one of many who called out NBC News for the clip prior to the network's comments. She referred to it as "completely dishonest editing."

President Donald Trump wrote that Todd "should be FIRED... for this fraud" Sunday evening.  Trump tweeted that Todd "knew exactly what he was doing" and called the network "Fake News."

But Todd's airing of the clip was not the first time it appeared on an NBC network. Cable news network MSNBC aired a similar clip on "Morning Joe" on Friday.

Todd was not the first one to use the deceptive edit as it had already aired on an NBC network.

Host Mika Brzezinski went after Barr's history comment: "And that tells you everything you need to know. Might makes right."

Brzezinski did not use the full context of Barr's remarks.
