“The adage of ‘never say never’ is a wise one."
Many Republicans who previously vowed not to support former President Donald Trump if he became the 2024 GOP nominee are now reconsidering their stance, citing dissatisfaction with President Biden's policies and leadership.
Eric Levine, a former supporter of Nikki Haley and a prominent GOP fundraiser, explained to Fox News that while his vote for Trump may not be enthusiastic, he feels compelled to support him due to the failures of the Biden administration.
“It is not an enthusiastic vote,” Levine explained. “I am left with no alternative.”
In a memo to GOP donors, Levine conceded that despite previously stating he would “never” support the former President after the events that took place on January 6, he would now be supporting Trump in the upcoming election.
“The adage of ‘never say never’ is a wise one,” Levine said in his memo.
The sentiment is echoed by other GOP strategists, who predict a shift among anti-Trump voters as the election approaches.
"I think as we get closer to the election, after Labor Day, I believe most anti-Trump voters from the primaries will end up supporting Trump," Andrew Smith, Director of the University of New Hampshire Survey Center told Fox News.
This shift in attitude mirrors the dynamics of the 2016 Republican primary, where many Republican voters aligned themselves under the “Never Trump” movement but ultimately admitted that this was a mistake. The most notable was conservative commentator Ben Shapiro, who claimed that he did not vote for Trump in 2016 because he did not believe the businessman would govern with a conservative ideology.
Following Trump’s election win and governance, Shapiro admitted he was “wrong” in his assessment and is now vocal about Republicans unifying behind Trump in the upcoming election.
While some moderate Republicans, such as supporters of Nikki Haley, remain skeptical of Trump, the alternative of a second Biden term may be too much for these voters to stay home on election day.
Marlys Popma, an Iowa GOP operative who endorsed Haley during the state's caucus, suggested that despite Trump not reaching out to Haley supporters, the reality of Biden's presidency may lead many to support Trump based on policy alignment.
“When the hardcore reality sets in” people will say “I’m going to vote for Trump because his policies are right,” Popma predicted, per Fox News.
As the 2024 election draws nearer, the radical policy initiatives by the Biden administration will likely result in a more unified Republican party determined to ensure that the current President does not secure a second term.

This a terrible predicament. I detest the narcissist. I cannot abide by having Biden re-elected. In my case it doesn’t matter much since I live in Washington and all of the electoral college votes will go to Biden so I will likely write in DeSantes.
