As of Thursday, all people entering the province of New Brunswick from outside will have to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine.
The 'bubble' has allowed for people inside of the four Atlantic provinces to move about the region without requirements for self-isolation.
According to CTV News, NB's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jennifer Russell, said on Thursday that the province will no longer participate in the 'bubble', and that, furthermore, Zone 3, which encompasses Fredericton and the rest of Central NB, should enter the "orange phase." Russell said, "We are taking this action because of the course of action the virus is taking in this area."
"What does orange mean:
"One household bubble, that can extend to caregivers
"Campobello residents can stop in Lubec, Maine for health/grocery needs and return without isolating (but encouraging trips be kept at a minimum)
"Bars/Restaurants can stay open, but you're only seated with your own household. You must stay seated. Give your actual name/number to the staff."
Russell further noted that new infections within NB seem to be being "fueled by young adults," and asked for these people to avoid large groups and moving between zones. She also asked for them to be aware as soon as they have any symptoms and get tested immediately.
