House Speaker Mike Johnson has called for Columbia President Minouche Shafik to resign amid increasingly violent protests at Columbia's Gaza camp protests.

Agitators broke into the main Hamilton Hall administration building on campus early on Tuesday morning, breaking windows and doors to do so.

After the footage went viral online, House Speaker Mike Johnson posted, calling on Columbia President Shafik to "resign immediately" and said the students were engaging in "terrorism."

"This is not a protest; this is terrorism. President Shafik must resign immediately," Johnson commented. The call came in response to a video of an individual breaking into the building by smashing windows with a hammer.

Other videos of the agitators occupying the building were seen online. The protesters stormed and occupied the building after breaking in.

They then barricaded the doors to Hamilton Hall with furniture as people around the building chanted anti-Israel sentiments.

Students were allegedly assaulted on campus as the occupation took place as footage was recorded by members of the media.

A student getting pushed around said that what he was experiencing was "100% assault."

During protests on Monday, Johnson made a similar call for the president to resign as faculty linked arms to form a wall in front of the Gaza camp.

Johnson has repeatedly been critical of Shafik after the initial Gaza camp protests on Columbia's campus that then spread to dozens of college campuses in the US.
