President Donald Trump announced that the Department of Education will issue guidance that will protect the right of prayer in public schools. The president made the comments while he was speaking at the Museum of the Bible, where he addressed the White House Religious Liberty Commission. The commission was formed after Trump took office to secure religious liberty around the United States as well as the world.

During his comments, Trump stated, "I'm pleased to announce this morning that the Department of Education will soon issue new guidance protecting the right to prayer in our public schools."



Trump had cited the case of a student organizing a group of friends to pray for another student who was injured. "A few years ago, Hannah organized a group of her classmates to pray for an injured peer. The school principal declared that Hannah's generous act of love was prohibited from taking place in front of the other students," Trump said.

"Hannah, very strongly, stood her ground and she won," the president added.



During the speech, he also took aim at Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA), who said last during a hearing, “The notion that rights don’t come from laws and don’t come from the government, but come from the Creator — that’s what the Iranian government believes," and called the concept "extremely troubling," despite the founding fathers writing in the Declaration of Independence, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."



Notable members of the White House Religious Liberty Commission were in attendance, including Dr. Ben Carson, Dr. Phil, Bishop Robert Barron, and others.

Attorney General Pam Bondi said before Trump took the stage that the DOJ has been working to drop cases of FACE Act prosecutions against pro-life Christians, as well as stopping spying on Catholics that was taking place under the Biden administration at the FBI.

"President Trump is fighting each day for our parents, our students and every American's right to live out their faith. There is no greater defender of the First Amendment than the President," Bondi said.
