Actor George Takei was sent to an internment camp for Japanese Americans during World War II, yet he compared that experience to that of 50 illegal aliens who were sent to the luxurious island resort of Martha's Vineyard, off the coast of Massachusetts.
"As a child, I was put on a train and sent off by the government to a faraway place we’d never heard of," Takei wrote on Twitter, recalling the forcible relocation and incarceration of about 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry, most of whom were US citizens, following the Pearl Harbor naval base attacks carried out by Japan.
"As a survivor of that policy, I am appalled by what governors in TX and FL are doing now," he wrote.
Florida governor Ron DeSantis and Texas governor Greg Abbott have upset Democrats by sending some migrants that have crossed the US-Mexico border into their states to sanctuary cities and places that voted for liberal immigration policies. yard and Washington, DC, to his experience in a Japanese internment camp during World War II.

In an effort to lessen the load of the waves of migrants pouring across the border into southern states, the two Republican governors have been sending busloads to states and cities that support the Biden administration's open-border policies, namely New York City and DC.
Despite being self-designated sanctuary cities, NYC's shelters are completely overwhelmed and DC's Mayor Muriel Bowser has begged the National Guard for help multiple times with the influx of migrants her city is woefully unprepared for. However, DeSantis and Abbott caused an even bigger stir when they on Wednesday sent 50 migrants to Martha's Vineyard, and 75-100 to Vice President Kamala Harris's residence, respectively.

Martha's Vineyard, a popular vacation island for the wealthy with a median home price of $1.325 million overwhelmingly voted for President Joe Biden in the 2020 election and is known for being very liberal, but according to Star Trek actor Takei, 85, flying migrants there reminds him of when he was sent to a concentration camp.
Despite Takei's framing that the migrants were essentially taken from their homes and forced into concentration camps as prisoners of war, these migrants crossed the border and boarded transportation to other places of their own free will.
When Fox News reporters questioned migrants arriving in DC, outside the home of the vice president, one said that despite it being illegal, the border is open and they came in freely.
"The border is open," he said. "It’s open because we enter, we come in, free, no problem."
"States like Massachusetts, New York, and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited into our country by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as 'sanctuary states' and support for the Biden Administration’s open border policies," DeSantis' press team said.
As Democratic legislators join Hollywood actors like Takei in shaming the move, rapid response director for DeSantis, Christina Pushaw, pointed out that the politicians who are complaining are the very same ones who voted for the policy.
