Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes appears ready to drop the so-called "fake electors" case in the state, stemming from the 2020 election in which a group of 18 people were indicted after they signed a document as an alternative slate of electors.
The Supreme Court of Arizona declined an appeal from Mayes, who has been prosecuting the case, after a lower court decided to send the case back to a grand jury. This also comes as President Donald Trump has signed a pardon for those who were being prosecuted in the case, including Turning Point USA's Chief Operating Officer Tyler Bowyer, former attorney to Donald Trump John Eastman, former Cochise County Republican Committee chair Robert Montgomery, and others.

When asked about the case, she said, "The one thing I do know for sure ... is that I am so proud of the prosecutors and investigators in the Attorney General's office, and I'm proud of the work we did on that case."

Previously, Mayes had said she would be pressing forward, but when asked about this, the attorney general said, hesitantly, "I mean, look, I certainly don't want to give it up. It is certainly not something that I want to do."
Bowyer said of the pardon from Trump, "Very grateful for the support of the President, Ed Martin, and the many who have looked out for us since this expensive injustice has taken place in the swing states.”

It has nearly bankrupted and caused severe trauma to many good people on this list— this is why it is important to get to the bottom of what was carried out against good faith and active citizens who took to the courts to ask questions about the 2020 election,” he added.
