Conservative commentator Aaron Gunn is being called a racist for alleging Canada is not a systemically racist country. The outright accusation of racism comes from BC NDP Childcare Minister Katrina Chen and was in response to Aaron Gunn's tweet on Monday.
Gunn said in his tweet, "More garbage from the NDP perpetuating the myth we live in a systemically racist country founded on 'white supremacy.'" He followed this by saying "Stop slandering your own country!"

View on XThe context of the tweet is in relation to a "anti-racism" motion put forward to the British Columbian Legislature by BC NDP MLA Niki Sharma. Sharma alleges she sits in an institution that has a white supremacist history, but leadership hopeful Gunn saw this as nothing more than virtue signaling.
Upon voicing his criticisms of critical race theory, he was targeted by various BC NDP politicians, including Katrina Chen, who outright called Gunn a "freaking racist."

View on XKatrina Chen has previously garnered her own controversy for saying Indo-Canadians run for office for purely nefarious reasons. In the 2012 video, Chen said the following statement.
“Unfortunately, sometimes you see immigrants running because they want the name. They actually don’t know the politics very well yet, and sometimes local parties support them because they need the immigrants’ vote, like from the Indo-Canadian community for example,” Chen said in the video.
Chen later apologized for her comments against Indo-Canadians.
Aaron Gunn immediately replied to Katrina Chen, pointing out the defamatory statement.

View on XAccording to White Fragility author Robin D'Angelo, it is now considered racist to believe you are not a racist and indeed not part of a racist country. In other words, if you say you are not a racist, then critical race theory will consider you a racist and if you admit to your racism, you are still inevitably racist.
Aaron Gunn thinks this is all stupid and while racism evidently exists in the world, Canada is among the least racist countries.
