WATCH: Beirut bride caught on camera during explosion

The explosion occurred yesterday, on the evening of Tuesday, August 4, in a warehouse in the vicinity of the city’s port, and managed to topple several buildings, filling the area with smoke dust and debris, and turning what was supposed to be a special and unique moment for the bride into an emergency situation in the space of a couple seconds.

The radiant smile quickly fades from Seblani’s face as her boquet is forcibly blown out of her hands due to the blast from the explosion. The photographer, Mahmoud Nakib, can be heard off camera saying “Allahu Akbar”, trying to calm himself. Alarms start going off all over the city, and the bride accompanied by her friends can be seen rushing into a nearby building in an attempt to hide.

Nakib then follows the rest of the group into a nearby building. Footage clearly shows the extent of the damage, with debris and dust everywhere, trees uprooted and thrown everywhere, and many windows in the area completely broken. The bride and her party were approximately 1 kilometre away from ground zero of the explosion. Fortunately, none of them were injured.

As of the , more than 100 people have been confirmed killed by the explosion, and more than 4,000 have been wounded. It appears, unfortunately, that a fire in the warehouse reached approximately 2,700 metric tonnes of ammonium nitrate, setting it off. All nearby buildings were completely destroyed.

Speculations still exist as to whether the incident was an accident or a planned attack of some sort.
