Biden’s Sec of State Antony Blinken dresses son as Zelensky and daughter as Ukraine flag for Halloween at White House

The child wore Zelensky's classic olive green sweatshirt, which Zelensky has worn nearly non-stop since his country was invaded by neighboring Russia in February 2022. He even wore the same get-up to address Congress and the US President when he came state side to ask for more money.

Blinken's wife Evan Ryan joined the pair, along with their daughter, who wore the colors of the Ukrainian flag as a costume.

The White House Halloween party took place on Monday night and featured First Lady Jill Biden dressed as a cat. Biden gave out candy to the children of staffers and government officials for about 90 minutes. Biden did not don a costume.

Blinken has Ukrainian heritage, and his grandfather was from Kyiv back when it was still part of Russia's empire. He came to the US in 1900.

Funding for Ukraine is a major point of contention in the Republican controlled House, where many conservatives are opposed to further funding for the war-torn nation. Their concern primarily has to do with a disinterest in having the US fund and fight foreign wars. America has spent some $113 billion on Ukraine's fight so far.

Newly minted House Speaker Mike Johnson has said that were there to be further funding for Ukraine, those funds would have to be pulled from elsewhere in the budget.
