British Columbia Liberal Leader Andrew Wilkinson is stepping down after the party suffered a major defeat in the provincial election.
The snap election was called by NDP Premier Horgan, who seized on the opportunity of the pandemic and grow his minority into a majority. He did just that by taking 12 seats away from the B.C. Liberals, and giving the NDP a safe majority for the first time since 1991.

View on XAndrew Wilkinson was elected to the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia in the 2013 provincial election and re-election in 2017. He announced his intention to run for leader on September 25, 2017. This was when Christy Clark narrowly lost the election to the NDP and stepped down as leader. Wilkinson received the most endorsements from his fellow MLAs.
He placed third on the initial ballot behind Diane Watts and Micheal Lee, but British Columbia's use of a ranked ballot led to Wilkinson winning the leadership on the fifth count.
