BREAKING: Doug Ford says he has ‘zero tolerance’ for racism

Starting of the press conference, Ford said that he had "zero tolerance for anyone targeting the black community or any minority group."

"I just won't stand for it," said Ford. "People won't stand for it as a province."

Going further, Ford said that Ontarians must "acknowledge where this pain is coming from. These issues stem from a history of racism and abuse."

"My friends, there is no doubt that this has been a very difficult year, the hardest we have seen in our lifetime," he added.

Changing topics, the premier announced a new set of measures that aims to help Ontarians with their electricity bills. "No one will have there power cut off because they cannot afford their bills," said Ford.

Ontario will expand the ban on power disconnection, while also creating a fund where the government will pay for electricity bills for small businesses.

Over the past few days, cities across North America have been shaken by protests and riots in response to the death of George Floyd. Toronto, on Saturday, held a peaceful protest, while the protests in Montreal soon turned violent.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned the violence in Montreal on Monday, saying that Canadians have a right to protest so long as it remains peaceful.
