BREAKING: Paul Pelosi body cam footage released by San Francisco PD

The footage shows police arriving at the residence in the early morning hours of October 28, knocking on the door, which was opened by Paul Pelosi.

"Hey guys, how are you?" Pelosi is heard saying as he and DePape are seen standing next to each other, with DePape holding the handle of a hammer of which the head was grabbed by Pelosi.

"What's going on, man?" an officer is heard asking. "Everything's good," DePape is heard responding.

The police officer ordered that DePape, to which DePape said, "um, nope."

DePape is seen trying to pry the head of the hammer from Pelosi's hand, with Pelosi saying, "hey, hey, hey."

"What is going on right now?" the officer said seconds before DePape freed the hammer, and swung it, hitting Pelosi in the head.

"Oh sh*t," one of the officers said as they rushed into the house to tackle DePape. As officers are handcuffing DePape, Pelosi is seen lying motionless on the floor behind him groaning.

On Wednesday, a media request for the footage was granted by San Francisco Judge Stephen Murphy after a brief hearing. In addition to the bodycam footage, the court also released 82-year-old Paul Pelosi's 911 call, which was ordered to be provided in addition to US Capitol Police surveillance footage and DePape's SFPD interview.

In November, reports emerged that the bodycam footage showed Paul Pelosi opening the door for police, a contradiction to the federal grand jury indictment filed the week prior.

San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins stated that on the night of October 28, DePape broke in through a rear glass door, and snuck into Paul Pelosi's bedroom, where he was sleeping.

According to the DA's office, Paul Pelosi called 911 from a bathroom, and when San Francisco police officers arrived at the scene, DePape and Paul Pelosi were struggling over a hammer, which DePape used to strike Paul Pelosi in the head. DePape was arrested and Paul Pelosi suffered a fractured skull, an injury from which he recovered. Paul Pelosi said DePape was there for his wife and wanted to wait until she returned and screamed "where's Nancy!"

On November 1, 2022, DePape pleaded not guilty at an arraignment hearing to a number of felonies unrelated to the federal complaint including charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, residential burglary, false imprisonment of an elder, elder abuse, and threats to a public official and her family.

On November 15, DePape pleaded not guilty to federal assault and federal kidnapping charges.

In late December, DePape again asserted his innocence at an arraignment for his state charges and waived the right to a speedy trial.

Earlier reports had Pelosi opening the door for police but the DOJ complaint reads, "Moments later, at approximately 2:31 am, SFPD officers responded to the Pelosi Residence and two officers knocked on the front door. The two officers who approached the door had their body-worn cameras activated. The two officers opened the door to see the foyer of the Pelosi Residence, Mr. Pelosi, wearing a long-sleeved shirt, DEPAPE in shorts, running shoes and a sweatshirt, and DEPAPE and Mr. Pelosi jointly gripping a hammer."
